Dani Shapiro is the author of five critically acclaimed novels, most recently Black & White, and the bestselling memoir Slow Motion. Her short stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Granta, Tin House, Elle, Bookforum, O: The Oprah Magazine and Ploughshares, and have been featured on National Public Radio. She has taught in the writing programs at Columbia, New York University, The New School, and Wesleyan, and is a contributing editor at Travel & Leisure and a contributing writer at Elle.
DEVOTION is a story about motherhood, midlife, and a search for meaning. A story about what happened in Dani’s own life after her son started asking questions kids ask: what happens when we die? is there a god? what do you believe? and she realized that despite her highly observant upbringing–or perhaps because of it– she had opted out of thinking about any of it. DEVOTION: A Memoir chronicles Dani’s journey as she searches for meaning in a constantly changing world, as a Jewish woman, a committed yogi, a wife and mother.
DEVOTION will hit book shelves on Jan 26.
