MECHINA

Mechina engages students in kindergarten through 4th grade in one day per week  learning and exploration of their Jewish identities through Hebrew, stories, holidays, and history. A progressive approach, dynamic educators, and an interactive classroom experience are the hallmarks of the Mechina Program, with special attention paid to the developmental age of each grade. Each week, the entire Mechina program joins together in song and prayer. K-4th Grade meets Tuesday afternoons, 4:00-6:00 PM

Z’MAN BEINONI

The transition time between elementary school and Hebrew School is a wonderful opportunity for developing friendships, learning and unwinding at JCP before formal classroom education begins. Z’man Beinoni means time for us to share. This year on Tuesdays from 3-4 pm we offer several choices staffed by educators. For students enrolled in Zman Beinoni: Each day upon arrival students will be asked to check in at the welcome desk and to indicate their activity choice for the day. Their options are Reading Room or Gym/Games, unless they have preregistered for the Arts and Technology through a Jewish Lens Program. In order to allow for continuity of curriculum, students opting for the the Arts and Technology program will be asked to commit to that activity for a number of weeks, broken up into quarters of the school year. Students participating in this program must arrive by 3:20 PM daily.  Pre-registrastion for Arts and Technology can be done in advance.

Reading Room – students will have a quiet space to relax after school and complete homework, supervised by educators or to simply read for pleasure.

Gym and Games – students who need a physical outlet to play will have a number of options to choose from (e.g. ping pong, basketball, dodge ball) supervised by educators.

Arts and Technology through a Jewish Lens – students will access Judaism through creative arts and technology programs including a variety of media.
