Youth Klezmer Band

Join the greatest Jewish jam session in town with the new JCP Youth Klezmer Band (YKB).  Led by our new music director Yoshie Fruchter, the ensemble will work on a number of Jewish melodies and together will come up with unique and fun arrangements to perform at the next big JCP event. The YKB will be great way to learn new music and get your creative juices flowing!

(This program is intended for fifth graders through high school students. Some experience with a musical instrument is required. Email jenny@jcpdowntown.org for more info.)

Here’s some more information about Yoshie:

After growing up in Silver Spring, Maryland, Yoshie studied jazz at the University of Maryland. He plays guitar, bass, oud, and composes for multiple ensembles in different styles. His debut solo album, Pitom, earned him raves in the jazz world, and his second album was honored as one of the most important Jewish music releases of the year in the 2011 Forward Fives. He has gone on to record several follow-up albums on the cutting edge of the New York music scene, and comes to us with extensive teaching experience, most recently at the Kane Street Synagogue in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill.
