Ananim (Kindergarten) Update Teachers Alana and Shulamis

November 5th, 2009

Since our last update we have been focusing on Shabbat and its traditions, such as lighting and making the blessing on the candles, eating challah and saying kiddush (the blessing over the wine/grape juice). Each week we’ve made a project related to these traditions including a challah cover and kiddush cup. The children worked diligently to design Shabbat boxes that will contain all of their projects. At the conclusion of our Shabbat unit, the children will bring their boxes home to share with all of you.

Last week we learned the first three letters of the aleph bet (aleph, bet and vet) and used worksheets and played a game to help reinforce each of the letter sounds. This week we reviewed those letters and continued to learn letters gimmel, daled and hey.

We are very excited for the coming weeks as we get ready for the upcoming holiday of Hanukkah!

Stay tuned…
