Ananim News (Alana & Shulamis)

February 1st, 2010

Since returning from mid-winter break we have been keeping quite busy.

During the past few weeks we have been focusing on a number of topics including ways to show respect to our parents, the holiday of Tu B’Shevat and how we can help the environment (tikun olam).

The children enjoyed planting marigold seeds last week in honor of Tu B’Shevat. We hope they’ll grow into beautiful plants for you all to enjoy!

We also had a special Tu B’Shevat snack with dried fruits and chocolate bits.

Each week during circle time we collect tzedakah. The children are given the opportunity to tell us about a mitzvah (good deed) that they may have done during the week followed by placing a coin into the tzedakah box. Our goal is to reinforce the concept of being kind and reaching out to others.

We are looking forward to the coming weeks when we will begin learning about the holiday of Purim. We are eager to have you join us this coming Tuesday, February 2 for Parents Day! We have fun Purim-related activities planned!
