Project Night Night Donation Drive

JCP Downtown, 146 Duane Street
New York, NY 10013
+ Google Map

This Hanukkah, JCP invites you to bring light to children in homeless shelters by participating in our Project Night Night Donation drive. Project Night Night gives children in homeless shelters comfort, security, and access to educational materials by providing free Night Night Packages to youngsters aged 12 and under. Each Night Night Package includes a child’s very own security blanket, stuffed animal and book – all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. Project Night Night gladly accepts new blankets, new stuffed animals and new or like-new books as a donation. Blankets should be NEW or newly handmade. We appreciate quilted, fleece, knit, crocheted, and store-bought blankets. The ideal size is 50″ x 60″ or smaller. Books appropriate for ages 0 to pre-teen. Stuffed Animals smaller than 20 inches. Stuffed animals must be NEW. JCP will be collecting these items in a collection bin in our lobby at 146 Duane Street from December 1st through 15th during normal business hours.

Through Jewish stories and traditions, students draw connections between Jewish thought and their own lives. By identifying central themes and ethical messages within the Torah and integrating those into their everyday, students gain the ability to make choices based on Jewish ethics and values.

JCP’s Hebrew School Project (HSP) is our after-school experiential Jewish education program for students in grades K to 5. Our integrated, inquiry-based approach activates a child’s love to draw, sing, play, pretend, imagine, create, problem solve, and share while learning about Judaism and developing their own sense of Jewish identity. Through Jewish stories and traditions, students draw connections between Jewish thought and their own lives. By identifying central themes and ethical messages within the Torah and integrating those into their everyday, students gain the ability to make choices based on Jewish ethics and values.

Project Bet—JCP’s B’nai Mitzvah Experience—puts tradition and creativity at its center, celebrating the individuality of every child and the value of community. Each child will gain self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment while building an increasing ownership over their young adult identity. This is a beginning, a springboard from which to dive more deeply into what it means to be Jewish over the course of a lifetime. The Project Bet experience is also a communal one in which all children will ask themselves and each other: what does it mean to grow as a Jewish individual, friend, and global citizen?

Children engage with Jewish culture and Hebrew language through song, art, movement, puzzles, creative play and hands-on experiences. Our young learners make new friends and create a connection to community as they prepare to begin JCP’s Hebrew School Project when they enter Kindergarten. This class is designed both for children in our Early Childhood Center and those for who attended a different preschool program.
