High Holidays 5777 Message from Co-Presidents, Evan Roth and Erin Silvers
On behalf of the leadership of JCP, we want to use this opportunity to thank so many of you for making JCP your home for the High Holidays. From our Tot Rosh Hashanah service to the Yom Kippur Neilah service, we were struck by the beauty of our community when it comes together for these moments of celebration and reflection. Whether this was your first encounter with JCP or you are one of our long-time community members, the warmth, creativity and openness that are central to our Jewish community continue to inspire and engage.
We also want to extend a special thank you to Rabbi Jason Klein for his extraordinary leadership during this holiday period and the sense of intimacy and connection that he helped create. In addition to almost 200 community members who joined him on the bimah during the different services, we also want to thank a number of individuals who stepped up to help make our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services such a success:
Jacob Stein, whom we are thrilled to have back on the bimah with his voice, guitar, presence, and the High Holiday band consisting of Maria Jeffers on cello and Jeffrey Franzel on piano.Bianna Golodryga and Richard Leibovitch for sharing their JCP stories with such passion and commitment.
Jack Geula, Scott Berrie, Eli Weiss, Susan Silverstein, Rita Feder, and Jonathan Lewinsohn for their excellent Torah reading.
Luiza Sperling, Sarah Gerson, Isabelle Kaminsky, and Sara Snyder for leading the learning session on Yom Kippur afternoon and sharing their wisdom and insights from their B’not Mitzvah studies.
The Kaminsky family, the hosts of the Second Day Rosh Hashanah services, for this year and so many in the past.
Victoria and Ben Feder, together with their children Sam, Rita, Oliver, and Nava, for the bimah flower arrangements in memory of Victoria’s mother, Belda Kaufman Lindenbaum, who loved beautiful flowers.
Mike Klein, who volunteered his time teaching shofar to children and adults alike these past four years on Rosh Hashanah and our shofar players Yotam LePape, Len Ellis, and Mike Klein.
Jenny Ferentz, our Center for Jewish Life Program Coordinator, and her team of program specialists who have taken our High Holiday youth program to a new level.
Andrew Ergas, our executive director, Jenna Mulberry, our events manager, and the full administrative and facilities teams, who together worked tirelessly to support our operation throughout the holidays.
We hope that over the next few weeks and years, you will continue to be a part of the amazing community that is JCP and encourage you to b ring your friends to our upcoming Sukkot andSimchat Torah programs, Shabbat experiences, and learning sessions. We are honored to serve as the Co-Presidents of this innovative organization and believe that together with you, our colleagues on the Board and our staff, we are creating Jewish life in Downtown Manhattan.L’Shana Tova,
