A group of our youth has been meeting weekly with Yoshie Fruchter, our Director of Community Music. We are currently assessing interest to reconvene the band for next fall. Might your child be interested in a Wednesday afternoon jam session starting in the fall? Fill out our interest form and we’ll be in touch!
Join the greatest Jewish jam session in town with the JCP Youth Band. The ensemble will work on a number of melodies and together will come up with unique and fun arrangements to perform at special community occasions. This is a great way to learn new music and get your creative juices flowing!
(This program is intended for fourth graders through high school students. Some experience with a musical instrument is required. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.)
Here’s some more information about Yoshie:
Yoshie began his work with JCP in 2016. After growing up in Silver Spring, Maryland, Yoshie studied jazz at the University of Maryland. He plays guitar, bass, oud, and composes for multiple ensembles in different styles. His debut solo album, Pitom, earned him raves in the jazz world, and his second album was honored as one of the most important Jewish music releases of the year in the 2011 Forward Fives. He has gone on to record several follow-up albums on the cutting edge of the New York music scene, and came to JCP with extensive teaching experience, most recently at the Kane Street Synagogue in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill.
