SUMMARY:Highlighting Healers and Hope: Holding Liat
DESCRIPTION:We encourage the JCP community to join Rabbi Deena to join us in the third installment in Highlighting Healers and Hope. A screening of the powerful film Holding Liat as it begins it theatrical release. \nABOUT HOLDING LIAT: What begins as a chronicle of Liat Atzili’s parents\, sister\, and children’s efforts to secure her return from captivity\, becomes a portrait of conflicting impulses towards anger\, indifference\, and compassion straining the bonds of one grieving family.\nLiat Atzili joined the JCP community back in 2024 at our first commemoration of 10/7 to bravely share her story with the community. The producers of the film have been generous enough to arrange for discounted seats for JCP members. \nYou may order your tickets here and use the discount code “JCP” to save $4 off each ticket: HOLDING LIAT \nIf you cannot attend on January 15\, the “JCP” discount code applies to all showings of the film at the Film Forum from January 9-15: https://filmforum.org/film/holding-liat

SUMMARY:Highlighting Healers and Hope: A Conversation with Lee Yaron
DESCRIPTION:We are proud to launch a series of talks exploring the stories of Israelis and Jewish Americans who are working to bring healing and resilience to their communities in the aftermath of October 7th. \nIn our first installment of this series we will be having a conversation with Lee Yaron\, an award-winning Israeli journalist\, in conversation with Rabbi Deena Silverstone about her new book 10/7:100. \nLee Yaron is an award-winning Israeli journalist\, author\, and social commentator whose work centers on Israeli society\, regional conflict\, identity\, and reconciliation. In her writing and public talks\, Yaron addresses themes of trauma\, memory\, resilience\, and the search for meaning in the aftermath of violence. We are honored that she will open our series by sharing her insights—both personal and journalistic—on how individuals and communities navigate loss\, uncertainty\, and the challenging path toward healing. \nThis event is recommended for adults and teenagers. \nThis event is free for JCP members and costs $18/family for non-members.
