GIANT is a tense, acclaimed Broadway drama starring John Lithgow as children’s author Roald Dahl. Set in 1983, it follows a high-stakes, real-life weekend where Dahl must decide whether to apologize for a virulent, antisemitic article or risk his reputation. Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the play explores themes of bigotry and artistic legacy.

Yom Ha’Zikaron and Yom Ha’Atzmaut

Join us for a meaningful evening of learning and engagement with Rabbi Deena and Rabbi Josh as we mark Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut. Together, we’ll explore the profound transition from remembrance to celebration, and what these days ask of us as individuals and as a community. Come for thoughtful conversation, connection, and a deeper understanding of this powerful moment in the Jewish calendar.

All Adult learning classes will join together that evening for this meaningful session, and it is also open to the wider community.

City Harvest

City Harvest’s annual Feed Our Kids Food Drive runs each year from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day (May 11–June 15) and helps provide much needed food for New York City’s children and their families, especially during summer, when access to free school meals may become limited. Please make sure all donated food is nut free.

JCP Health and Wellness Series #3 – Know Your Risk: Genetics Experts Talk Cancer Prevention

Join us as we welcome Dr. Melissa Frey and Dr. Ravi Sharaf, directors of the Genetics and Personalized Cancer Prevention Program (GPCP) at Weill Cornell Medicine. Together, they will be discussing this innovative program which advances personalized healthcare by offering comprehensive cancer risk assessment, genetic testing, and long-term cancer prevention care, empowering individuals to actively manage their health and mitigate cancer risks. “Historically, cancer care has focused on diagnosis and treatment. We aim to shift this paradigm by prioritizing prevention. A deep understanding of cancer genetics is essential to making preventative medicine a reality,” Dr. Frey.

The discussion will be followed by Q&A.

The panelists will be introduced by JCP community member Kyle Mann, who helped to organize this event.

JCP students of all ages are welcome to join Rabbi Deena to help lead a meaningful Shabbat service for the residents of Sunrise Battery Park City senior living community. Space is limited. Please register each child and adult that will be attending.
